Important information about the APRN Compact

Posted 12 months ago

This week you may receive an email with a link to an important survey about licensure mobility for APRNs in South Dakota! The South Dakota Board of Nursing and National Council of State Boards of Nursing are conducting the survey to gauge the need for and support of South Dakota adopting the APRN Compact.

The APRN Compact:

-          Facilitates cross-border practice whether in person or via telehealth and facilitates online nursing education.

-          Sets high requirements for an APRN to be eligible for a multistate license.

-          Allows an APRN who holds a multistate license issued by a Compact state to practice in any Compact state on that one license.

-          Avoids duplicative fees and time associated with obtaining and maintaining multiple licenses across jurisdictions.

-          Maintains South Dakota’s practice environment for APRNs

The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and we encourage you to complete the survey to share your thoughts on South Dakota joining the compact.
