SCAM ALERT!

The BON has been made aware that some nurses have received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be from the SDBON. The scammers use spoofed SDBON telephone numbers that appear to originate from the SDBON office.  We have been told that the tone of these calls may be hostile, and in some cases scammers falsely claim that a specific action is needed to prevent a nursing license from becoming suspended, such as sending money. As a reminder, the SDBON does not call a nurse, nurse applicant, or anyone else requesting personal information.

Please be wary of these scam calls and do not provide personal information over the phone to anyone you do not know or trust.  If you receive a suspicious call about issues with your nursing license, please call the SDBON office directly.  You may also contact the Attorney General's Division of Consumer Protection: 1-800-300-1986.
