Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Final Rule

The Department of Veterans Affairs has released the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Final Rule which will allow Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, and Clinical Nurse Specialists to practice without a collaborating physician. The final is scheduled for implementation 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.

Thank you to all South Dakota Nurse Practitioners who submitted comments in support of this rule change. We will continue to support our Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists colleagues as they submit comments during this time to also be included in this policy change.
