Position Description

The inpatient APP provider is adept at evaluating and managing acutely ill adult patients in the hospital setting. The inpatient role requires timely assessment and intervention in urgent and emergent situations. Provision of care includes but is not limited to: comprehensive physical assessment; ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests; management of chronic and acute medical conditions; prescribing medications and treatments; and counseling for health promotion and disease prevention. Patient and family education about disease process, post hospital follow up care plan and health promotion is an important part of this role.

Inpatient Cardiology consists of multiple service lines that the APP would work on including: Heart Rhythm, Heart Failure, Valve/Structural and Ischemic Heart Disease. The APP hospital based provider will work collaboratively with consultants, cardiology fellows, other APP staff members as well as clinical assistants, medical residents, nurses. Our services are covered 24/7 by APP staff, with additional compensation for evenings, nights and weekends.

Qualifications:

Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certified as an ANP, ACNP or FNP.  Prior inpatient nursing experience required.  A Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) is preferred.

Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.

Must have BLS and ACLS certification. DEA registration will be required.

Additional Qualifications:

Cardiology experience preferred.  Clinical rotations in inpatient settings highly preferred.  Must be able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and have strong communication skills.

Schedule Details: 24/7 work unit with a day/night rotation, 13 hour shifts
Weekend Schedule: Will work 1 of 4 weekends
