Position Description

This position will primarily cover the Fairmont outpatient (clinic) practice, and will provide assistance as needed in the inpatient (hospital) and infusion settings.

  • In collaboration with three Medical Oncologists and a care team consisting of RNs, LPNs, Social Services, Nutrition Services, Pharmacy, and other ancillary support staff, the Medical Oncology NP/PA provides clinical care to cancer patients at various stages of treatment and recovery.
  • The SWMN Division of Medical Oncology practice provides cancer services in Mankato, Fairmont, and New Prague locations.  The Fairmont Medical Oncology NP/PA could provide support coverage in Mankato.

Services provided:

The SWMN Division of Medical Oncology practice is a physician-led team of board certified hematology and oncology physicians working in collaboration with specialties including Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Radiology, and Pathology.  This multi-disciplinary team of cancer care professionals is focused on diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of various types of cancer.  Weekly tumor boards, a collaborative breast clinic, and clinical research trials are part of the practice.

Qualifications:

  • Nurse practitioner- Master's degree in nursing required, Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred.
  • Physician Assistant requires completion of a baccalaureate degree and an accredited physician assistant education program, Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification by a national nurse certification organization acceptable to the MN Board of Nursing required.  Physician Assistant (PA) certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges

Additional Qualifications:

  • Special Skills: Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and interdependently with other health care professionals. Have extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments and passes ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated. Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members of health care team.

License or Certification:

  • Required: Registered Nursing (RN) License, Nurse Practitioner (CNP) Certification, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) License in the state of Minnesota or Physician Assistant License in the state of Minnesota. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required and any other life safety certification as required to obtain privileges.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.

Schedule Details: Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Weekend Schedule: As needed
